"Doctor loan" is a misleading name. These loans were built for physicians, but several now cover nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, veterinarians, optometrists, attorneys, and CPAs. The headline benefit is the same for everyone who qualifies: low down payment options with no monthly mortgage insurance.
We offer three professional loan programs, each with its own rules. Here's who fits where.

Professionals Plus: for nurses, attorneys, and CPAs
Professionals Plus is Cornerstone Capital Bank's own portfolio loan, so it follows Cornerstone's rules rather than Fannie Mae's or FHA's.
- Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, practicing attorneys, and CPAs get the same benefits as physicians and dentists. Many doctor loans elsewhere stop at MD, DO, and dentist.
- No prior banking relationship needed. The Cornerstone checking account can be opened at closing.
- Gift funds and cosigners are allowed.
- Student loans deferred at least 12 months can be left out of your debt ratio.
- It's a 5/6 adjustable-rate loan for a primary-home purchase.
Medical Professionals loan
A separate program with fixed-rate and adjustable-rate options, for a primary-home purchase or a rate-and-term refinance. It adds pharmacists, veterinarians, and CRNAs, and gift funds can cover the down payment, closing costs, and reserves.
Med Pro Program: new for PAs and optometrists
Added in October 2026, the Med Pro Program is the only one of our three that covers physician assistants and optometrists. It offers loan amounts up to $2 million, fixed-rate and adjustable-rate options, and no monthly mortgage insurance.
Why three programs matter
Each program has its own lender, its own pricing, and its own rules about credit, debt ratio, and student loans. Having all three means we can check your license and situation against each one and use the one that fits, instead of forcing you into the only option on the menu.
What to have ready
- Your license or credential, or your residency or employment contract
- Your student loan statements, including deferment or repayment status
- Recent pay stubs or your contract if you're starting a new position
- An idea of your price range and where you want to buy
