How do I compare two mortgage Loan Estimates myself?
Compare the interest rate, the APR, the discount points and lender credits in Section A, the lender fees, the mortgage insurance, the cash to close on Page 2, and the 5-year total cost on Page 3 of the Loan Estimate. Always re-price both quotes at the same number of points (zero is easiest) so you are comparing apples to apples. In Utah, also check whether your current lender included available down payment assistance — most national lenders do not.
